Zach + Ally got married in Birmingham, Alabama last October and their wedding was one of the most fun weddings I've ever had the pleasure to work or attend. Zach + Ally are such a kind and quirky couple who embrace the people around them and make everyone feel cared for, which really showed by the amount of love and joy that was poured out by everyone who attended their wedding. Throughout the entire planning process Ally + I brainstormed ideas for involving their family + guests in as many aspects of the wedding day as we could. We also sought ways to recognize and honor the family members that were unable to be present.
One of my favorite moments from the wedding was their unique unity ceremony. We tossed around a lot of ideas, but settled on a ceremony that had its roots within candlelight services. The officiant lit Zach + Ally's candles, and then Zach + Ally passed the flame on by lighting their bridal party's candles and then the guests' candles at the end of each aisle. The guests then passed the flame on to the guests next to them until everyone's candles were lit. Once all the candles were lit, the officiant led everyone in a hymn. It was a beautiful moment.
There is so much more that I could say about this wedding and the couple that it celebrated, but I think the beautiful pictures by Mary Margaret Smith do a marvelous job telling the story without words.
Zach + Ally, you two are a joy + a delight! Thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your wedding day. You are welcome in Charleston any time, and I look forward to returning to Birmingham to see your beautiful new home!
