Would You Rent Your Bridesmaids Dress?

Little Borrowed Dress

Bridesmaids dresses. An essential, yet pricy, part of any wedding.

As a bride it can be tough to find a bridesmaids dress that matches your colors, would flatter all of your bridesmaids and fits within all of your bridesmaids' budgets.

As a bridesmaid, it can be less than fun to pay a large chunk of money for a dress that you will most likely never wear again.

As a wedding planner, I am often asked where to find pretty, budget friendly bridesmaids dresses or for my opinions of different companies. I have a list of favorites, but I'm always looking for new companies to add to that list. It's my goal to always find the most relevant and helpful information possible to every bride.
Sometimes when I don't have that information, I reach out to others and ask them to share their input or experience.
Today I have my friend Sarah speaking on her experience working with the company Little Borrowed Dress and one of her bridesmaids, Joanna, sharing the perspective of a bridesmaids. I hope the information they have to share with you is potentially helpful in your quest for the occasionally ellusive bridesmaids dress!

Little Borrowed Dress

Sarah, the bride's perspective: When I got married in May, I chose to use Little Borrowed Dress for my bridesmaids' dresses. Honestly, this was probably one of the best decisions I made for my wedding. When I got engaged, we began hunting for the perfect bridesmaids dresses, and I had my heart set on a very light shade of pink/blush. What I didn't know was that this color was next to impossible to find for a reasonable price in a style that would suit all of my bridesmaids well, not to mention the fact that I was doing all my hunting in the winter -- there were NO pinks to be found.

Stacia originally mentioned Little Borrowed Dress to me, but I had never heard of it. I was a little skeptical at first (probably because I'd had NO luck yet), but as I explored their website and read some testimonials about them, I was sold! The great thing about Little Borrowed Dress is that they send each of your bridesmaids two dresses for the price of renting one (my bridesmaids paid $50 to rent theirs) to ensure that at least one of them fits for the big day. They also give an option to buy the dress if any of your bridesmaids are interested in keeping theirs.

One huge obstacle with finding the perfect bridesmaids dresses was the pressure of finding a dress that everyone could afford and would want to wear again (no one wants their bridesmaids to hate the dress they have to pay over $100 for!) Little Borrowed Dress had the perfect shade of pink for my wedding and in a style that all the girls were comfortable with and excited to wear.

I called them a few weeks before the estimated shipping date just to make sure that everything was on track and they were SO sweet, helpful, and easy to work with. They shipped the dresses out a couple of weeks before the wedding and included a prepaid package to return the dresses in as well. Their only requirement was that the dresses be returned on the first business day after the wedding date.

I was extremely pleased with my experience with Little Borrowed Dress , and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a classy or elegant bridesmaid look with a practical and affordable cost!

Joanna, a bridesmaid's perspective:In all honesty, I was -- at first -- a bit skeptical about "borrowing" a dress for a wedding. But, borrowing from Little Borrowed Dress was actually a really good experience. The bride chose a style and color and then all I had to do was order the dress. Through Little Borrowed Dress you get to choose two sizes and they send you both. This way, prior to the wedding you can try both on. The one you end up not using, you simply don't clip the tag. Then, after the wedding, you send both back in the packing they have prepared for you. Over all, I have no complaints. It allowed me not to spend a lot of money on a dress I wouldn't wear again, and their return policies were very reasonable.

Thank you, Sarah + Joanna, for sharing your experiences!

What do you think? Would you rent your bridesmaids dress?
