Welcome to 2016!
I'm currently in California visiting my immediate family. As I type this this rest of my family has gone to bed (even Michael) and I'm sitting in my childhood bedroom with metallic silver walls surrounded by piles of childhood books that are being divided into piles of take home now, store, and giveaway. (And let's just say I had a lot of books growing up...) I'll be here visiting my family, going through my old belongings, and coordinating a wedding over the next couples weeks. Talk about a wonderful start to a new year!
I truly am so excited about this upcoming year and everything it has in store! The couples I've already booked are couples that I am so incredibly excited to be working with, and I am eagerly looking forward to the other couples that will come my way as the year progresses.
I am so thankful for the big changes that occurred in my life and with this business in 2015, and am hoping for another year of exciting things (but hopefully not moving states again, my heart is loving it here in Charleston and I would like to stay!) One major goal I have for the year is to do better working in advance on things like blog posts and newsletters. I got great at batching tasks last year and planning out my editorial calendar, but now I want to master the task of always having a month or two of blog posts and newsletters written at all times so I'm never crunching for a post last minute. For those non-business owners, this may seem like a small, silly, or insane thing but it will really enable me to free up more time overall which means more times I can devote to my amazing clients!
As a closing thought, I mentioned last month that I was going to stop sharing monthly goals here. As much as I enjoyed doing that in 2015, I was beginning to stop enjoying writing those posts and feeling as if they weren't filling the void I initially thought they were. I do still want to connect with you and share some personal updates once a month, though, because I do still believe that it's important to share parts of who I am with you and not just a bunch of wedding related facts. Why? Well, as helpful as those facts are, the true heart behind this business is mine and if you're going to be considering working with me on one of the most important days of your life, then you should know a few things about me. Don't you think?
I am still not 100% sure what this monthly post will look like from me. I keep rolling a couple ideas around in my head, but haven't settled on one that feels like the perfect new direction. For now, I do know that these posts will be one of the first posts of each month. I'll keep you advised to any changes! :)
How was your Christmas? What are you looking forward to in 2016?
P.S. What is your interest in video blog posts? Do you like them? Not like them? Let me know your thoughts! I'm considering adding a few video posts here and there throughout the year but want to know if there's an interest. :)
