Today I'm SO excited to talk to all about you about my new favorite design and decor DIY books, Happy Handmade Home by Elsie Larson + Emma Chapman (authors of the wildly popular blog, A Beautiful Mess.) I have been an avid reader of A Beautiful Mess for quite a couple years now, and have read both of their published books.
I was unsure what to expect when I first heard that Elsie + Emma were writing another book. When I read their photography book, I found that most of their tips were things that they had already shared on their blog, which was greatly disappointing. However, this book was released and seemed to have a really good response, so I had high hopes when it arrived on my doorstep.
My hopes were not disappointed! This book was not only beautiful and bursting full of inspiration, but none of the projects were items that I had seen described on their blog. (Though, some of them are featured in the background of other project photos.) The projects featured within the book were all projects that I felt could be accomplished by people of varying skill levels.
One of my favorite features was their "9 ways" spreads. They would pick an item and show you 9 different ways that you can personalize it right next to each other. These spreads really inspired me and helped remind me how versatile different items can be and how the way you decorate something can almost entirely change its appearance.
Even without the DIY project directions, the photography throughout this book was highly inspiring. If you are looking for a book that you can curl up with and be inspired by, this is definitely a book to choose! I would say this regardless of my deep love for A Beautiful Mess. It is now one of my favorite decor books, and I can't wait to dig in more and try some of the projects in my own home!
What are some of your favorite decor books?
