PSE: A Year In Review

A Year in Review - Paper Swallow Events

So much has happened this past year, and it's so wonderful, crazy, amazing to look back on it and see how far this growing business has come! Before jumping into a new year, I love looking back on the old year and seeing what worked for me and what didn't, so that I can jump into the new year with better goals, better dreams, and potential for even more success. Today I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite moments just from this blog. (These are in no particular order.)

The weddings I was blessed enough to be part of this past year were all so beautiful and unique! I loved how each wedding was a true reflection of its couple's style. It's so fun to look at my portfolio and see that I got to be part of weddings that took place at locations like a museum and a boat dock, that were elegantly rustic, and that embraced a favorite fandom.

I shared monthly goalsmid-month check ins, and other bits and pieces of my personal life. I loved engaging with those of you who comment, and sharing who I am behind the scenes of this business with all of you. Thank you for letting me do that!

A couple times I took a risk and shared a couple posts that made me feel a little vulnerable - like how I feel about the term bridezilla and dealing with subconscious expectations.

My friend Britney joined me for a once a month health column. She's shared a great fudge recipe and a helpful list of stress relieving foods so far. I can't wait for her to keep sharing with you this next year!

Some of my wonderful clients shared such sweet words about working with me (like Maddie, Kayla, and Dhember.) I adore each one of these ladies and consider myself so blessed to have been part of their weddings! I can't wait to get to know the brides that 2015 brings my way.

I planned and orchestrated my first styled shoot. I learned a ton about that process and can't wait to try another one or two in 2015!

I celebrated my first year of business. It's amazing how time has flown! (If you want the story of how PSE came to be, you can find that here.)

I started my Recent Reads category and enjoyed sharing reviews about a few of the almost 90 books I've read this past year. A couple of my favorites that I shared here would be my favorite decor book and this book of gluten free cake recipes.

I shared some tutorials and DIY project ideas that I really love. My favorite would probably have to be this post on customizing your nail polish colors. Other ones I enjoyed were the advent calendar Michael + I made this December, an easy updo, a pretty recipe for rustic florals, and a comic book girl Halloween makeup tutorial. A few of my friends have tried these tutorials and shared the results with me on Facebook. If you want to give them a try, I would love to see the results. Use #psetutorials on social media or give me a shout out if you do!

This year I was fortunate enough to work with some wonderful vendors who I have featured on this blog.

When weddings break from the "norm" I love sharing that to inspire other brides. This year I got to witness a salt ceremony and participate in la hora loca.

Other posts were tips for how to make both your life and elements of planning your wedding go easier. Some of my very favorites talk about things like ways to chill when life is crazy, involving your pet in your wedding, my favorite organizational tool, thoughts on traveling with your wedding dress, successfully styling a couple's shoot, and how to keep your flowers fresher longer.

Do you review the past year before moving forward into the new one? What are some of the things you accomplished this past year?

xoxo, Stacia
